Puni Acca was my first cousin, one of the four beloved children of my aunt, my father’s sister. She was a remarkable person — gifted, warm, vibrant, and full of life.
She had an ebullient personality and a rare artistic talent. Music was central to her life. She taught Carnatic music with dedication and distinction, and was one of the pioneer teachers who introduced Tamil Carnatic music to English children. Fluent in both Tamil and English, she had the delightful ability to sing and compose poems spontaneously in “Tamglish”, bringing joy, humour, and cultural richness to those around her.
She was also a violin maestro, and over the years gave many memorable performances that touched the hearts of her audiences. Her music carried not only technical excellence, but feeling, devotion, and beauty.
Puni Accas husband Parki annnai also taught me mathematics, in Srilanka, and I remember him with affection and gratitude.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, students, and all her kith and kin. Her legacy lives on in the music she taught, the lives she touched, and the memories she leaves behind.
Remembering a beautiful human being !🙏
